My little sweet pea

Tonight when i was putting stella to bed she asked to hold my hand so i leaned in & put my big hand around her tiny fingers. She was already laying down and i was knealing by her bedside so i put my head next to hers on the pillow and in the quiet of the night we held hands and giggled a bit and after awhile i told her just how much i love her and kissed her little cheeks. When i got up to leave she said goodnight and i slipped out of her room feeling so grateful that she's mine. 

My Little Lion Heart

I love Stellas creativity! She put her pajama top on her head and told me she was a lion and then she started examining me as Dr. Lion. You've got to love it!

Role Reversal

This morning she insisted putting on my socks and throughout the day she likes to tell me to stop talking or when ive had enough to eat. Its getting interesting at our house these days.

Brrr ❄️

Our spring like weather was wonderful while it lasted but now we are back to business as usual. We went out last night in a little snow storm. Its hard to capture the snow in a picture but you can see the flakes in our hair.

Dinosaurs

Stella is in love with dinasours right now. We have been to the dinasour museum again, shes reading books about them and makes a great "Rrrrrraaa" sound

She observed that the dinosaur in the drawing had a tail and she said "mom this dinosaur doesnt have a tail" comparing it to the drawing.

We had an impromptu picnic lunch today, it felt so good to be outside in the warm sun.

Mardi Gras

This week Mardi Gras will be celebrated in New Orleans and around Louisiana. Our neighbors came over to bring us a Mardi Gras cake. John is from Louisiana and educated us on all the fun of this celebration. Love that they dressed up!!!

Food finds

Look what i found at walmart. This salad dressing is from one of our favorite restaurants in California. We love their mexican ceased salad because of this dressing. I bought a bottle and its pretty good, not identitcal in flavor because its not as fresh but its close.

I was super excited about this recipe because all pudding has milk and i try to limit my milk and the idea of having a yummy non milk pudding was exciting. Jorge and i both liked it stella did not.

Freshmen Friends

It was so fun to meet up w/ friends from my college. The girl next to me, Chelsea, was my roommate in the dorms. Its amazing how much and how quickly time has past. Amazingly we were able to pick right up even though its been a few years since i have seen them. Tonight im thankful for old friends.

Valentines Day

Jorge bought flowers for me and Stella. He will be her valentine until she has her own and i think that is about the cutest thing ever.

I made jorge his favorite dish seco de pollo and surprised him with it, he was super excited.

Tonight we went out to see a comedien on campus. He was hilarious and it was awesome to be in a space where nobody was drinking or smoking and the jokes were clean. I ❤️ my eternal valentine! 

Dinosaurs

Today we went to the Dinosaur museum on campus. It was so nice outside we couldnt resist getting out in the sunshine. Stella liked the museum, it was kid friendly and she could touch quite a few of the exhibits. It was interesting for me too. I cant wait to find out the purpose of these incredible animals and figure out why they went extinct. Im so thankful for free fun things to do close by.

Stella Bella

Can i just say how much i love this little daughter of mine. She is so smart, curious, funny, and a million more adjectives that i could think of to describe how wonderful she is. If i had to be around someone all the time, which we are, shes the one i'd pick. Im so grateful i get to be her mom.

Family Night

For our family night activity this week we heartattached each other. It was so sweet to read what jorge wrote to stella. We put the hearts up in our kitchen, the place we are most, so that we could feel loved all week long.

For our treat we had banana s'mores. You slice open the banana just enough to form a little pocket and you shove in a bunch of chocolate chips and mini marshmellows and then wrap it up in tin foil. I put it on the george foreman to grill it for 6 minutes and it was s'more heaven. 

Staycation 2015

Jorge and i had the best weekend alone, yes alone, stella spent the weekend with her cousins and we had a staycation. Im calling it a staycation because we stayed home. On friday night we went exploring in a cute area called Sugarhouse. It reminded me of 2nd street in long beach. It has tons of cute shops and restaurants. We ate frozen yogurt and meandered through a book store. It was so nice to be out together past 7pm. We used to love to go exploring so it was a fun treat. On sat we ran together, which we havent done in so long, it helps me work harder when im running with him not sure if its helpful for him ;) hopefully the good company makes up for it. We worked on our finances for awhile and made some great plans for our future. We attended stake conference sat night and sunday morning and i was able to listen. It was so nice not to have any distractions. I missed Stella so much! We had a great weekend and im so thankful to brad and emily for watching stella

My new hair cut

3 legged deer

The 3 legged dear. So yesterday we spotted a deer in our complex and stella and i were so excited. We saw deer poop probably a month ago near a bldg close to ours but we never actually had seen a live deer until yesterday. (On a side note: we saw a dead on a few weeks ago on the road that runs right by the stadium and the Marriot Center) if you look close in the pic below you will see the front left leg is missing from about the "knee" down. We have run into this guy again since this picture and he was laying down in a grassy area near a playground. This morning when we left our apt Stella wanted to go find the deer.

Organized

Ok so last week i attended some trainings for continuing ed. In one of the trainings the presenter showed us some things we could do to help our ADD/ADHD clients get organized, the info was great and applicable for anyone really. So this week i picked up an ice cube tray and used it to organize all the little stuff in our office drawers. I love that it filled the void of what to do with all the stuff that ends up floating around your drawer and creating a messy look.

I have to say that i feel like i had a rite of passage as a mother today because i braided stellas hair for the first time. Shes had a bob cut the last year or so and there wasnt really enough hair to work in a braid but now that her hair is getting longer its full of potential ;)
