Called to Serve

On Saturday morning the Relief Society was assigned to clean the chapel. These ladies know how to clean & they are so fun to work with.

Then we attended a baptism for this family. The elder on the right is from Peru and the elder on the left is from El Salvador.

Today we fed seven of the Lords finest!! These elders are from all over Central & South America (Colombia, Peru, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Argentina).

Election season

People are out all over the city supporting there favorite candidate. It's pretty impressive to see such a high level of grass roots organizing. Elections are Sunday. We only are allowed to have sacrament meeting because by law you can't hold public meeting on that day. 

Stella's been sick the last couple of days but is feeling better today. In the morning she just started sweating, the next thing I knew the crown of her head was all wet. I took it that her fever broke, yah!!

Stella loves animals

We have a nursery manual and in each chapter there are pictures. We mostly use the manual for family home evening and we take it to church and use it as a quiet book. Stella loves, loves, loves this picture with the animals and will always turn to it first.

Does anyone remember the song that goes with the lyrics in the title of my blog? It's a really old song that I'm pretty sure one of my older sisters used to play all the time. Tonight when I was picking Jorge up from work there was a torrential downpour. The streets were flooded and the traffic was horrendous and then I see these guys and it made me smile. 

I know this picture is really bad but I had to show you all how high the water was, there was no curb or sidewalk anymore and at one point it sounded like we were on a boat that's never that great of a thing to hear in your car. Hope yourValentines day was way less eventful. XOXO

Fresh macadamia nuts

I don't usually like macadamia nuts unless they are in a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie from Costco ;) but I tried one fresh the other day and it was so good and tasted very different from what they sell in the stores. These guys are actually putting fresh whole macadamia nuts into this grinder and using the chopped pieces to put in fudge. Yum, yum!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

We are so excited to have Jorge's brother and sister in law and their two children living in our subdivision. It's so fun to have family close by.

Nursery friends

Stella with her friends in the nursery at church. She has the best nursery teachers, they are so loving and so great about teaching these guys the simple principles of the gospel and making it fun.

The most delicious juice

In Ecuador it's very common for people to make their own juice every morning for breakfast with fresh fruit. It's so delish!!! I'm drinking a papaya/banana juice blend... YUM.

Meli is getting married on feb 14 in Utah and we celebrated with her tonight... So fun.

We're being invaded...

Because we are now in the rainy season in Ecuador we are having a lot of uninvited guests. In the last couple of days we've had a cricket, 2 geckos, a few worms (see photo below) , Mosquitos and other unidentified bugs. Bugs are not my favorite thing, I'm hoping for no more visitors.

Saying goodby

We were SO sad to say goodby to Michelle... I seriously contemplated getting lost on the way to the airport ;) we are so grateful she came to visit and hope she comes again.
